Manager, Policy and Research, Federation of Canadian Municipalities
Ms. Lavoie believes that good public policy comes from effective research, analysis and engagement. In her current role as Manager, Policy and Research at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM), Alana leads a team responsible for research and policy development in the areas of infrastructure and transportation, public safety, and rural affairs.
Alana’s fifteen-year career in public policy has provided a multi-lens view of policy development and research. She has worked in both the federal and provincial public service. Ms. Lavoie has also a record of accomplishment working with business and professional associations. Prior to joining FCM in January 2016, she developed a high-impact public affairs team at Engineers Canada, advancing the role of engineering in public policy.
Alana holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from Carleton University and is an active community volunteer in Ottawa’s Centretown neighbourhood.
