Alena Kharkavets is the Head of Claims for North America at WTW’s Insurance Consulting and Technology business. In this role, she partners with insurers to future-proof claims operations through a range of strategic initiatives, including the integration of advanced analytics and AI, and claims operational redesign, enabling carriers to optimize performance, strengthen resilience, and deliver superior customer outcomes in an evolving risk landscape.
With nearly two decades in insurance, Alena’s expertise spans claims, advanced analytics, supply chain, catastrophe response, underwriting, M&A, pricing, digital transformation, sales, and strategy.
Before joining WTW, Alena led the strategic claims function at Intact Financial, Canada’s largest property and casualty insurer, where she developed and executed a multiyear roadmap to redesign the ecosystem – process, technology, and vendors – and modernize claims operations. She led the catastrophe response to large events (water, fire, hail) and worked on strategic initiatives to increase capacity and prepare for events expected to be twice as intense.
Alena is a Fellow of both the Casualty Actuarial Society and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, where she also serves as a Board Director. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Actuarial Science, as well as a Global Professional Master of Laws, both from the University of Toronto.
