Tom Larsen is an industry solutions principal in the Insurance Solutions group of CoreLogic. Mr. Larsen has worked to develop natural catastrophe models, software computing and platforms and natural catastrophe risk solutions since 1989, starting with a venture that later formed the catastrophe modeler EQECAT. In his current role, he supports CoreLogic’s relentless pursuit to protect and restore families and businesses from financial catastrophe by focusing on natural catastrophe hazards and risks. He is responsible for deeply understanding the analytic requirements for risk models that transfer the financial risk of property damage to insurers, reinsurers and capital markets and has been instrumental in the development and acceptance of earthquake and weather-related catastrophe risk models worldwide. He has authored many papers and contributed to several books, and was one of the original board members of the International Society of Catastrophe Modelers, a society focused on developing the profession of risk modeling. He has a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University in Civil Engineering and a master’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley in Structural Engineering. Mr. Larsen is based in Oakland, CA.
