Principal Climate Scientist at Risk Sciences International

Heather Auld, Principal Climate Scientist with Risk Sciences International and formerly with Environment Canada, has over 36 years of experience working in Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto and CFB Trenton as a weather forecaster, climatologist and climate impacts and adaptation expert. For many years, she was the Associate Director of Environment Canada’s multi-disciplinary National Adaptation and Impacts Research Section. For more than two decades, Heather researched and developed climate and climate change values for the National Building Code of Canada and chaired and contributed to various new engineering adaptation standards. Heather has worked with Engineers Canada on many engineering and climate change vulnerability projects domestically and internationally. She led the development of an internationally recognized climate hazards information system for emergency management planning and has provided forensic analysis and testimony to several disaster inquiries, including the Walkerton Inquiry. Heather has been invited to serve on many international expert teams and delegations, including the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, World Meteorological Organization, the International Strategy for Disaster Reduction, World Federation of Engineering Organizations and UN Convention on Biological Diversity.
