Director, Environment & National Issues, Environment, Government and Industry Relations at TD Insurance

Huma joined the Government and Industry Relations team at TD Insurance in 2015 and since then has been responsible for managing a variety of national files that encompass both the Life and Health and General Insurance businesses. Her work includes monitoring emerging issues and trends and providing information and guidance to leaders across the organization, and leading activities in support of the company’s role as a signatory to a United Nations environmental treaty.

Huma is a member of the Licensing committee of the Canadian Association of Financial Institutions in Insurance (CAFII), a member of the Licensing and Market Conduct task forces, and Chair of the Digital and Emerging Technologies task force of the Canadian Association of Direct Relationship Insurers (CADRI), and Chair of the Market Conduct Work Group of the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC).

She spent a number of years leading and managing communications for a variety of organizations in the private, not-for-profit and government sectors before joining TD in 2012. Huma has a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University, and a Post-graduate Certificate in Public Relations from Ryerson University. In her spare time, Huma offers volunteer communications support to a variety of activities and agencies of the Aga Khan Development Network, and is a mentor through the International Association of Business Communicators. A passionate environmental advocate, Huma is a member of the Board of the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation and a Climate Reality Leader supporting the education and advocacy efforts of Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project.
