
Monica Vaswani
Warning Preparedness Meteorologist at Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC)
Monica Vaswani is a Program Meteorologist at Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). Monica began working at the Ontario Storm Prediction Centre in Toronto in 2017 where she issues severe weather watches and warnings, produces public and marine forecasts, and produces graphical weather forecasts for municipal, provincial and federal partners. She has a particular interest in weather and risk communication and as such has taken on roles involving public outreach, emergency manager support and working alongside the media. She is currently the head of the Social Media and Outreach Programs at the Ontario Storm Prediction Centre and has been working part-time as a Warning Preparedness Meteorologist as well since 2023.
Prior to this role Monica worked as an Aviation Meteorologist in Montreal, Quebec for ECCC producing weather forecasts to support flight operations. Before her career at Environment and Climate Change Canada, Monica worked at The Weather Network in Oakville, Ontario for almost three years as a Briefing Meteorologist, where she communicated the weather story both on air and behind the scenes.
Monica holds an Honours, Bachelor of Science Degree specializing in Atmospheric Science from York University, as well as a Certificate in Meteorology and a Certificate in Geographical Information Systems (GIS). Monica is a Toronto native and mother of two young boys and a fur baby. She spends her free time trying to find the best flat white in the Greater Toronto Area.
