
Sharmalene Mendis-Millard

As Director of Partners for Action (P4A), Sharmalene Mendis-Millard develops relationships, applied research and convenings to advance local-level resiliency, initiating partnerships and working with faculty and students across disciplines. P4A teams have advanced work in collaboration with cross sectoral stakeholders on equity in disaster risk reduction, climate risk assessments, and adaptation strategies, such as managed retreat and multi-hazard retrofits, under Sharmalene’s leadership.
A mixed-methods geographer by training, Sharmalene has worked for several interdisciplinary research centres that aim to advance community well-being and social justice through partnerships, program evaluations, and learning programs. She is passionate about community engagement, applied research, and the non-profit sector, and about building community resilience for all in the face of climate change.
