Simon J. Mitchell
Vice President at Resilient Habitats, World Wildlife Fund Canada
Simon leads WWF-Canada’s Resilient Habitats team, which works from coast to coast to coast to protect landscapes, habitats, and species. A key function of Simon’s work is to identify strategies and actions across terrestrial and marine environments that improve the health and resilience of nature and people. For the last 8 years, Simon has led the freshwater and climate work along the Wolastoq (Saint John) River in New Brunswick, a priority area for WWF – Canada. Simon has expert knowledge and first-hand experience with small and large-scale conservation efforts, freshwater health, and climate resilience. He completed a B.Sc. Foresty at UNB (1997) and has worked ever since to protect some of the region’s most unique habitats and species. Simon has done much of this work through collaboration with academia, industry, community groups, Indigenous communities, and government agencies.
