Cheryl Spencer-Morley

Cheryl brings over 25 years of public sector experience at the federal, provincial, and municipal levels where her proactive strategic communications approaches have resulted in effective reputation management.
Her senior leadership experience includes serving communities small and large in such roles as Director of Communications for Service Canada, Children’s Services, the Edmonton Public School Board, Strathcona County and the City of Edmonton, as well as Director of Communications for the former Mayor of Edmonton, Don Iveson.
She has decades of experience in building and implementing strategic communications and crisis management plans and has served as a crisis communications lead and spokesperson for all levels of government. Some of the sensitive issues and crises she has dealt with include homelessness, opioids crisis, affordable housing, transit, the environment, employees being charged, Code of Conduct violations, controversial political decisions, pandemics, floods and wildfires.
She started Spencer Morley Consulting in 2023 because she had a passion to help more communities navigate the chaos when dealing with crisis. She recently served as the Lead Crisis Communications Consultant for the Jasper Wildfires where she spent two and half months on the ground supporting the Municipality of Jasper’s communications with residents, businesses and recovery partners including supports for re-entry, return to the visitor economy, debris removal and housing.
