Dr. Megan Kirchmeier-Young is a Research Scientist from Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Climate Research Division. She studies climate change and extreme events (including temperature extremes, heavy rainfall, and wildfires), with a focus on attributing changes in extremes to human-driven climate change. Megan is a lead author for Canada’s Changing Climate Report and served as a chapter scientist and contributing author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Sixth Assessment Report chapter on “Weather and Climate Extreme Events in a Changing Climate.” She earned a Ph.D. in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison
